With regard to the words "his name", 2011 I find described thus (read from Section book, page 18) "This beat is in the neighbourhood of Tank Lane. The greater part of the Not Section No 11 beat constables named in the list ▲ have been at their several beats for a week." The 2nd defendant is an ex-Police Constable.

Teik declared states: "I am a coolie living in East Street. I went there to see this with my own eyes. The Constables were in plain clothes. I knew them to be Constables by having seen them on duty. I do not know the 1st defendant. They were all Chinese Constables. There were no Europeans or Sikhs there.
